Our Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) at Padworth is designed to significantly improve recycling and composting rates in West Berkshire, improve management of waste and meet the statutory targets that have been set. The IWMF incorporates a number of individual elements that work together to contribute to the successful and sustainable management of household waste. The facility contains the following: In-vessel composting facility - For the recycling of garden, and food waste, into a useful product. Materials recycling facility - Processing recyclable waste collected from the kerbside. Municipal depot and vehicle maintenance facility - To manage and maintain the fleet of vehicles required to operate the wide range of services provided. Mini household waste recycling centre - To provide a facility which will offer a wider range ofrecycling options than those at the kerbside. Visitor centre and administration block - To allow people to see the technology and processesused to responsibly manage our waste. What you'll be doing. An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Engineer to join the Veolia Team based in Padworth. The purpose of the role is to maximise through-put of the facility by managing the day to day maintenance of all plant and equipment. You will be responsible for the efficient maintenance of the facility, in a team of 2 engineers. The management of VES CMMS and the implementation of planned preventative maintenance requirements also fall within the remit of the role. You will also ensure safe, efficient and reliable plant operation, including maintaining and compliance of statutory inspections. The role holds responsibility for the management and coordination of equipment maintenance - planned, breakdowns and overhauls within strict budgets, in line with company policy and procedures, and the management/control of maintenance sub-contractors. The above are a summary of the main responsibilities of the post, but further tasks and duties may be required within the demands of our business usually allocated by the Operations Manager. About your Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications; Candidates need to have their GCSE Maths and English. A City and Guilds, Advanced craft, NVQ level 3, or BTEC ONC, in Engineering, plus formal qualification in maintenance, recognised formal apprenticeship, and background, with training in both Mechanical & Electrical engineering is considered preferable. A thorough grounding and experience in a processing / manufacturing / production industry is required, alongside experience of hydraulics, pneumatics and material handling equipment.
