Position: Test Development Engineer
Location: Oldham, Manchester
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: Flexible working hours, between 7am-7pm (7am-4pm on Fridays) Option to finish at midday on Fridays
Salary: £Highly-competitive and negotiable, depending on experience

The Opportunity:

They’re currently looking to hire a test development engineer to join their expanding reliability engineering team. In this key role you’ll support and work alongside an established team of multi-disciplined engineers to ensure their devices remain at the forefront of industry standards.

You will be supporting and working alongside an established team of reliability engineers to not only conduct reliability testing but also find new ways to continuously improve their reliability engineering capabilities and develop new testing capabilities.

This opportunity would best suit an experienced technician or engineer with a strong electronics engineering background who is interested in reliability engineering and is looking for opportunities to take ownership and responsibility for designing and developing test equipment and procedures.

Your role:

- As part of a key team of engineers, you’ll test the reliability and performance of their existing and updated cash processing and printing devices, before and after they go to market.
- Utilising your methodical and highly-organised approach, you’ll utilise bespoke methods and programmes, and test products against stringent spec documentation to ensure products meet both company and regulatory requirements.
- Analysis of data, producing diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations, and reports for defining reliability problems and make recommendations for how products can be improved.
- You’ll also be responsible for supervising and training others to perform reliability testing.
- A defining part of this post will be the opportunity you will have to take ownership of projects aimed at enhancing their reliability testing capabilities. This will involve designing and developing new test rigs to perform a wide range of reliability engineering tests.

Your Skills & Experience:

- A formal qualification in electronic engineering (E.G. an HNC / HND / Degree) is preferred.
- An interest in, and experience of, using programming languages in engineering contexts (ideally C and VB but other programming languages could be useful too).
- Proven industrial experience in the testing or design of electronic and electromechanical products.
- A genuine, long established passion for engineering and an interest in reliability engineering.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to write detailed technical reports and to be able to present findings to others.
- Proven analytical, creative and practical approach to solving problems, with high attention to detail.
- Knowledge of applying mathematics and statistics knowledge in engineering contexts.
You may have experience of the following: Electronics Engineer, Project Management, Test Engineer, Quality Assurance, Tester, Reliability, Electronic Engineering, Manufacturing, Manufacturer, Reliability Engineer, Design Engineer etc.
