Would you like to play a key role in the creation of test equipment and synthetic environments to drive the development of the combat system, in service with the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. We currently have a vacancy for a Systems Engineer at our site in Frimley, Surrey.
As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for specifying and creating the test environments for the Common Infrastructure to be tested on. You will be drawing up and managing requirements, and then working with the internal supplier to manage this through the life cycle.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to gain in depth exposure to a broad range of sub-systems within the combat system, opening avenues for continual personal development and career progression.
Your main responsibilities as a Systems Engineer will involve:
Generating requirements for test equipment and synthetic environments
Developing test equipment models and carrying out modelling tasks
Managing requirements database in DOORS and ensuring requirements are met by our suppliers, following the life cycle process
Working with sub-system suppliers and customers in order to define what equipment is needed
Ensuring correct test and development tools are provided throughout the engineering life cycle for our customers in a timely manner
Supporting external supplier visits when required
Your skills and qualifications:
HNC/ HND/ Degree level qualification in relevant STEM field (or equivalent level of experience)
Understanding and appreciation of systems engineering, including requirements management
Previous experience in a systems engineering role
Network architecture experience
Knowledge of test equipment/ testing experience within synthetic environments
Experience working in electronics/ defence industry
Experience of formal requirements management

Maritime Submarines - Combat Systems
Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century. It currently employs approximately 7,700 people, with 500 of these working for Combat Systems across our sites in Barrow-in-Furness, Ash Vale, Broad Oak, Filton, Frimley and Weymouth.
