Principle Engineer (Weapon Thread Trials Support Engineering Lead)
Would you like to work within our Underwater Systems (UWS) team, delivering cutting edge physical design solutions across multiple Submarine platforms? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer (Weapon Thread Trials Support Engineering Lead) at our site in Frimley.
As a Principal Engineer you will play a key role in the development of the command systems and weapon thread, as well as management of trials, including requirements solicitation and supplier selection, right through to providing on-board support during trials.

Your main responsibilities as a Principle Engineer (Weapon Thread Trials Support Engineering Lead) will involve:
Oversight of the developing and planning of submarine system technology updates and improvements
Liaising with internal and external customers to ensure system requirements are adequately supported through planning, installation, and integration along with trial activities
Supporting the project planning & control management in implementing the planning processes
Developing and integrating the project weapon trials programme and management of all of trials including production of trial technical proposals in response to tasking
Supporting to Ministry of Defence (MoD) customer obtaining approval to embody equipment by providing evidence for all physical and functional aspects including EMC, shock, intrinsic and dynamic safety, toxicity reports
Providing realistic programme status, identifying problem areas and implementing agreed recovery plans
Playing a leading part within meetings as required by the role to use and understand appropriate software and toolsets required
Your skills and qualifications as a Principle Engineer (Weapon Thread Trials Support Engineering Lead):
Experience of creating and managing tests and trials for complex systems
Understanding of the full engineering life cycle including requirements, design, testing, and acceptance
Knowledge and some experience of bid processes
Ability to work with a diverse stakeholder group, both internal and external
Degree level qualification (or equivalent level of experience)
Experience in submarine or surface command and control systems
Model based systems engineering
Experience in submarine engineering

Maritime Submarines - Combat Systems
Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.
