My client is a firm of Boutique Chartered Accountants who work exclusively with business owners who are looking to scale their business dramatically. This is a fantastic opportunity for a first step out of practice into a commercially focused role. They work with entrepreneurs to deliver business insight, primarily in the form of Management Information pertaining to their business performance. They analyse their business performance to provide the entrepreneur with meaningful data analysis in order to drive better business decisions and maximise profits.

Due to the continued growth of the business, there is a need for a new role to work closely with the owner to report on the financial performance of clients and give the entrepreneur owners meaningful management information.

As well as having full autonomy, good work life balance and flexible working, the exciting part of the role is to become a business partner for both the owner but moreover for the entrepreneurial clients. You will work closely with clients to gather information before analysing and presenting this back to the client. Key to this is to understand the role of marketing and commercial insight within a business to be able to calculate ROI on marketing activities. This is crucial as advice to clients on increasing marketing efforts to attract new customers and hence knowledge of where new customers come from is critical.

You will also be exposed to developing client systems to understand their current systems and to work with them to develop new and improved processes. You will be actively encouraged to get out of the Guildford office and into clients' business.

This role gives you the opportunity to perform finance duties whilst working within the operational areas of the clients' business. You must be comfortable working with non-finance personnel, have a confident delivery style and the ability to challenge current practices and implement change.

Required skills

  • Ability to multitask within a rapidly changing environment.

  • Knowledge of profit and loss account reporting.

The successful candidate should ideally be a qualified accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA or overseas equivalent).

  • Upper class degree or equivalent from a respected university
  • Strong IT skills
  • High attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Good interpersonal skill with the ability to build strong relationships
