We are seeking a talented an Online Web Developer to join our eCommerce Team as we continue to grow and improve our online offering to our customers.

The Online Web Developer will be responsible for building and evolving the new eCommerce web sites and web applications of Iceland online, one of the fastest growing eCommerce operations in the UK and building some of the best online user experiences around.

As Online Web Developer you will take ownership of the client-side code (HTML, CSS, & JavaScript) for the transactional sites within the eCommerce team. Produce prototypes & production ready code to hand over to our development partner, make recommendations for improvements within the current framework, and become an integral part of any future site developments. An important part of this role is to maximise online opportunity by creating the best, simplest, most customer friendly website possible. You will be working closely with UX designers, visual designers and HTML/CSS developers to define, develop and document all front-end development requirements for projects.

Essential Criteria

  • Expertise in JavaScript, and jQuery libraries (jQuery UI, jQuery Mobile desirable)
  • Good knowledge of CSS/JS toolkits like Bootstrap, Topcoat, Foundation etc.
  • Knowledge and/or expertise in Agile methodologies such as Scrum, XP, and Kanban.
  • Has thorough understanding of page performance and optimization.
  • Has experience in Ajax, experience consuming RESTful services in Javascript is desirable.
  • Desirable (but not required) to have experience with front end development with eCommerce frameworks and commercial products (e.g. Hybris, IBM Websphere Commerce Server, ATG, Magento) or with major CMS’s (e.g. Drupal, Wordpress, Concrete5, Sitecore etc).
  • Desirable (but not required) to have experience in Javascript TDD/BDD and relevant testing frameworks (Jasmine / Karma)
  • Desirable (but not required) to have working knowledge of modern Java development platforms and frameworks, in particular Spring and SpringMVC.
  • Desirable (but not required) to have working knowledge of native mobile app development in iOS and/or Android.
