The GIS team works across Arcadis' UK business providing support to the Utilities, Highways, Rail; and Energy and Environment sectors. Overview of Role: Reporting to the Senior GIS Consultant, you will be responsible for undertaking GIS data preparation, data management, analysis, mapping and visualisation on our projects. This will include: * Using web and mobile technology to support field data collection teams * Preparing MXDs and PMFs for data sharing and mapping * Preparing map services for GIS applications * Developing and applying geoprocessing models using model builder and / or python You will assist in the delivery of project-related tasks to meet budget, time-frame and quality targets, meeting or exceeding client expectations, promoting and marketing all facets of Arcadis' services during interfaces with clients and other sectors and disciplines, contributing towards the achievement of the divisional business plan and to build networks within the industry. Your Day-to-Day: * Delivering GIS work on UK projects * Preparing and coordinating work for GIS staff based in the UK and overseas (travel not required) * Liaising with internal and external clients * Providing GIS technical mentoring to junior GIS staff * Undertaking GIS mapping, analysis, data capture, data management and geoprocessing * Extraction and formatting of AutoCAD data into GIS formats * Preparation of GIS reports * Analysing and developing databases * Analysing data in Excel * Working with the GIS team to deliver GIS deliverables to tight deadlines * Undertaking quality control of GIS work undertaken by other GIS staff * Contributing to the technical development of the GIS team through sharing ideas and innovations * Occasional travel to other offices for business development and project meetings * Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager or Arcadis Minimum Academic Qualifications & Certification: * A Master's degree in GIS and/or suitable experience. Essential Experience: * Demonstrable post-graduation in a similar position * ESRI ArcGIS 10.1 or above * Microsoft Access and Excel * Some previous GIS project management experience * Some experience of preparing content for bids and proposals * Some experience of programming in either Python, SQL or VBA and a desire to develop these skills further * Understanding of relational databases and database design * Understanding of core principles of GIS and GI data management * ESRI ArcGIS Online * Knowledge of UK GIS datasets * Customer focussed approach to quality and service * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to identify innovative solutions to problems * Well motivated and team focussed with an ability to work without supervision and act on own initiative * Well motivated and able to work to tight deadlines * Desire to work within a consultancy environment applying GIS to environment, geoscience and infrastructure projects Desirable Experience: * Experience of working within infrastructure, environment, water or buildings disciplines * Experience of working with processing large datasets i.e LiDAR, OS Mastermap * Experience of programming in either Python, SQL or VBA * Exposure to ESRI Model Builder or FME * ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE * ArcGIS Online / Portal for ArcGIS * ArcGIS Mobile or ESRI Collector App, Survey 123 * QGIS, PostgreSQL/PostGIS * Open Source GIS tools such as GDAL * Building Information Modelling (BIM) Why ARCADIS: ARCADIS is the leading global natural and built asset design and consultancy firm working in partnership with our clients to deliver exceptional and sustainable outcomes through the application of design, consultancy, engineering, project and management services.
