This excellent opportunity is with a leading supplier of security products for the financial services and banking industries. They are currently experiencing a period of growth due to the development of innovative new technology. To satisfy demand, they require an outstanding Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of mechanical and electronic security products.

The Role
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will work within the existing design team, leading projects from initial concept through the full development lifecycle as well as advising on existing products to provide feature and cost improvements.

Specific responsibilities will include:

* Lead, the design process from concept to manufactured product.
* Lead, the design of mechanical components and assemblies
* Advise on the design of electro-mechanical assemblies and work with our electronics design team.
* Liaise with our production team and CNC programmers
* Assist in product prototyping and testing
* Develop and maintain relationships with relevant technical consultants and suppliers
* Introduce new materials, processes and technologies to the company
* Engage with customers and the security industry to develop new product ideas.

The Candidate
The successful candidate is likely to have a relevant degree level qualification with proven experience in sheet metal design and experience in electro-mechanical design.

Additionally, you should have:

* Have full knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks
* Be highly organised, with the ability to plan tasks and time effectively
* Have a thorough and methodical approach to completing tasks
* Display a strong sense of initiative and self-motivation
* Take pride in the quality of their work
