Underwriting Manager Manchester Job ID: R-56815 Full time The Role North SME Regional Team are looking for a number of Underwriting Manager Roles which will be either based in Leeds or Manchester. This role is a Grade D level role and reports directly to the Head of Trading. Purpose of the role is to Lead a team of Trading Underwriters Grades B-D, to develop relationships with brokers and clients to proactively grow the business and increase revenue and profit. You will need to understand the demand into the team, what matters to the brokers and use this knowledge to constantly improve the system. Responsible for Profit and Loss, and growth of your own Team typically between (£5-£40mill) with a team of between 8-15 people. The Team The UK SME team are responsible for all commercial customers with up to £100mill turnover, across the 5 regional teams and our digital team which predominantly writes business online. Our purpose as a team is to provide insurance solutions for commercial customers. We trade the majority of our business through Insurance Brokers. You'll understand that working within our governance frameworks to make sure we're risk compliant as an organisation is fundamental. Responsibilities - Proactively spend time in the work with the brokers and team to understand what matters to them, build relationships and increase profitable revenue from new and existing SME customers - Embed a sales culture of winning business - Regularly review account and team performance, including 121s and honest performance conversations - Deliver the financial plans for the team and region. - Understand the measure in the system and act on these to improve performance across the team. - Awareness of the wider Regional team performance and how your teams contributes to this, and provide support and help when required to other areas. - Ensure robust governance and risk requirements are part of business as usual - Effectively leading a team of people and driving a high performance culture whilst being adaptable to change. - Communicating clearly with the team on strategy and performance & keeping them engaged. - Ensuring wellbeing at work - Develop and grow your teams capability both technical and skills based.
