Confirmation of Vacancy 4049TPP Job Title: Ink Process Development Engineer Key Accountabilities: - Responsible for process engineering activities in the Ink Manufacturing department within the fuel cell manufacturing group. - Analyze operational metrics, inline process performance, as well as end of line product performance, and define reaction plans. - Define preventive and corrective actions to eliminate root cause of failures. - Deliver productivity improvements and cost reductions for Ink Manufacturing. - Drive SPC charts, tool matching, and yield improvement. - Qualify and release new manufacturing equipment to production. - Develop and sustain processes, operating procedures, and related documentation. - Work in cross-functional teams with Quality, Product Development and Manufacturing team to develop manufacturing procedures for new generations of technology. - Development of new manufacturing processes of ink slurries for fuel cells. Experience Required: - Ceramic ink formulations (aqueous and non-aqueous) - Tailoring material microstructure to desired cell performance. - Ink preparation techniques (ball-milling, vibro-milling, triple roll milling, others). - Ink application techniques (transfer, spraying, screen/pad printing, others). - Pre-application characterization techniques: rheology, particle size analysis, others. - Post-application characterization techniques: SEM, electrochemical testing, others. - Develop characterization methods of inks. - Develop economic and effective manufacturing procedures with scale-up from lab to manufacturing - Coordination of projects with external suppliers and partners. - Defining new process chains as well as optimization of existing processes in terms of quality, efficiency and customer satisfaction. Knowledge and Skills: - MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemistry preferred. - Process engineering in high tech manufacturing, such as semiconductor, hard disk, or solar industries. - 5 years in manufacturing environments, with hands-on process engineering, manufacturing engineering, and sustaining experience, both in a process development group and in a mass production environment. - Owning a process module in both a development and a high-volume manufacturing environment, along with a proven track record of defining processes and procedures for manufacturing. - Exposure to both thin film and thick film processing, including subsequent high temperature operations and knowledge of electrochemistry. - Manufacturing inks and pastes, and related metrology and characterization. - Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to understand interaction of hardware and process as they affect the final product. - Demonstrated track record of solving manufacturing yield problems. - Methodical approach to process development with depth in data analysis associated with SPC, DOE, pFMEA, fishbone analysis. Working knowledge of a wide suite of data analysis software (MiniTab, Excel VBA macros, MatLab) is a plus. - An enthusiasm for learning within the field of fuel cell inks.
