A fantastic opportunity has arisen in the Marine team based in London. We are actively recruiting for a Senior Marine Underwriter. You will assist with International broker panel relationships as well as underwrite London and Regional accounts. You will develop within the inner M25 regional brokers and build relationship with SME teams.

Key duties include:

- Underwrites risks and handles technical referrals from the team within agreed guidelines and authority limits. Underwrites both new business and renewals. Works within Aviva's Brand Values.
- Develops an external network of relationships to support new business growth and renewals. Understands the Broker market relevant for the role.
- Develops key internal stakeholder relationships in order to ensure people understand the CSR business and the best service is delivered to customers.
- May identify, propose and deliver changes to policy wordings, supporting underwriting documentation and underwriting guidelines as appropriate.
- Ensures standards are met and the governance framework adhered to in order to maintain service levels.
- Acts as a technical referral point and provides coaching to less experienced underwriters on a day-to-day basis, sharing learning and best practice in order to contribute to the overall effectiveness of the team.
- Responsible for leading initiatives for service and process improvements by acting on feedback from customers. Shares ideas with manager, peers and engages team members to fully work through options.
- Proactive in the development of own capability to enhance individual and team performance. Compliance with governance frameworks to ensure Risk compliance.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience

- Detailed underwriting knowledge within relevant product line.
- Experience of applying underwriting knowledge to effectively improve processes/procedures.
- Experience of being responsible for own underwriting caseload within a regulatory environment, following due process and within set authority limits.
- Ability to analyse complex information and draw out the relevant facts.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Sound product knowledge and market awareness.
- Excellent business development/customer engagement skills in order to influence key contacts in the marketplace.
- Knowledge and ability to coach and guide less experienced underwriters in own team and wider teams
- Familiarity with the relevant departmental and Aviva-wide policies, procedures and guidelines
- Working knowledge of a range of standard computer software, e.g. Microsoft Office, email and ability to utilise same to enhance services

Qualifications/FSA:

- Relevant vocational training.
- Working towards ACII Diploma/relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.
- Annual completion of Aviva's mandatory CBT's.
