Battery, Alternator & Load Management Test Engineer - Automotive A Battery, Alternator & Load Management Test Engineer is required with relevant experience in automotive electrical and electronic development relating to load management, battery, alternator and power distribution electrical control system testing for a position based in Bedfordshire Our client, a global automotive OEM based in Bedfordshire requires a Battery, Alternator & Load Management Test Engineer to: - Carry out the validation of harness, battery, alternator and power distribution electrical control systems in vehicles to design/test standards. - Creation of test plans to meet with project and design milestones - Creation of testing procedures, confirmation of vehicle spec and test parts required for test, includes arrangement of vehicle transportation when required - Overall vehicle test technical coordination role where required (project leader). - Formal reporting of test results to design sections and to upper management - Ability to prioritise and multitask between multiple projects simultaneously - Root cause investigation and countermeasure recommendation. - Technical support to the production plant when necessary - Field investigation support and plant audit - Some management of suppliers - A project management role on behalf of the electrical test section. - You will have responsibility for dissemination of information for a specific vehicle project. - Test plan coordination and reporting of results on behalf of the section for the formal project milestone meetings. Understanding / Experience of: - Harness regulations and other test standards - Understanding of vehicle diagnostics - PCB design and electronic assembly methods - Auto-test facility creation - Experience of auditing - Have relevant experience in automotive electrical and electronic development relating to load management, battery, alternator and power distribution electrical control system testing, completing a minimum of two vehicle developments, or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience. - Understand electrical theory and the operation of electronic devices - Understand battery quality requirements and have experience of battery warranty - Be able to advise all areas of the business areas on best practise for battery stock management, vehicle power management. - Understand battery/alternator theory (voltage regulation and charge/discharge balance) - Be able to demonstrate and have practical experience in problem solving tools and techniques - Be conversant with digital oscilloscopes, and similar test equipment. - Be able to operate CAN-alyser and interpret the results. - Have good written and verbal communication skills. - Be able to travel abroad, typically a few days to 2 weeks, but on rare occasions travel may be long distance and for up to 10 weeks. - Competent with PC applications. Including Microsoft excel and project. - Self-motivating and self-managing. - Pro-active. - Positive. - Energetic personality and flexible regarding working practice and working hours.
