We have a great opportunity for a Software Engineering Team Leader to join the Sage One Product Engineering team. This particular role is to work on the development of our New Cloud Products which is the key to the success of Sage One on the global stage. Building and maintaining these services requires a high degree of effective collaboration with colleagues in other countries.

You'll be leading a team of highly skilled individuals, working together in agile scrum teams, employing Test Driven methodologies and releasing continually.

You’ll set stretching objectives for each team member as well as embedding a culture of learning and development to enable them to unleash their true potential.

As you will lead a team of around 6-10 Developers you will also be expected to contribute with some hands on development (70/30 split usually), Ideally you will have some front end JavaScriptexperience and/or HTML5 exposure, as well as an appreciation of MVC web frameworks (Java, PHP, .Net) and REST concepts. This means that it is an ideal role for a Senior Developer/Architect who has experience mentoring/leading teams but still enjoys the technical part of the role and has a passion to develop into management.

  • An excellent people person who doesn't shy away from dealing with difficult team or personal issues, being diplomatic and thoughtful at all times.
  • Experience of Ruby is highly desirable however it's not essential as we provide a combination of on the job training and self-study time. We would, however, expect you to have a deep understanding of robust programming practices, including the use of solid design principles and design patterns.
