About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Desk-Side Support Team within OS. You will be responsible for Hardware Asset management and technical support of the Client estate, both laptop and desktop devices supporting the Windows 7 and Apple OSX operating systems. You will support the App Portal (the application through which client software is requested and supplied) being responsible for software installations and management of the Portal. As part of the Desk-Side Team, you will be responsible for the deployment of hardware and software to the client estate and provide sound technical advice in support of purchasing requests. You will trouble-shoot customer issues which will include assisting 1st and 2nd level support teams, dealing with 3rd level support teams and associated calls. There will also be a range of general administrative tasks that you will be responsible for. As part of your ongoing development you will engage in project and improvement activities. The team provides on-site support between 08:00 and 17:0 Monday to Friday and a rota system is in place to ensure that these hours are covered. About you Although additional training, predominantly hands-on practical development and mentoring will be provided, you will have a good technical background with skills and experience in supporting Windows 7 (exposure to Windows 10 is desirable) and hardware, both laptops and desktops. Knowledge of Apple OSX is desirable. You will be a highly organised person who has an ability to plan your workload to ensure that deadlines and Service Level Agreements are met. Learning new technologies and skills excite you and you are keen to put your new learning into practice. As someone who is highly motivated and proactive, you are always looking for better ways of doing something with a focus on process improvement and finding ways to automate tasks and procedures. To be successful you must demonstrate your track record against the following essential criteria and competencies in your application: - Evidence of a drive and determination to learn and apply new skills - Very good knowledge of a range of technologies including Windows 7, Windows 10, Apple OSX - Strong customer focus with an ability to identify and implement service and process improvements to provide even greater customer satisfaction - Good investigative and problem-solving skills - Organisational skills and an ability to prioritise tasks and deliver to deadlines - Very good communication skills both written and oral.
