Lead Web Developer - Python / Django This company was formed in 2002 on the back of ground breaking research on new virtual screening technology that. Today they still deliver software and research services that enable chemists to better discover, design and optimize the best small molecules for their project. They are now looking for a Lead Web Developer to join them, to work on their newest generation of software, a web application built with Python using Django as a framework to implement RESTful API's, also using the JavaScript ecosystem. Once you have built the foundation for this new application you will be responsible for the hiring of your team, who will continue on the great work you have already started and will look to you for support and guidance. The Lead Web Developer will be responsible for; - Building the new application from the ground up and interfacing it to their complex scientific methods on the back end, and presenting the end-user with an easy-to-use but powerful UI - Architecture, development and deployment of the new application - Oversee the hiring and on-going management of both internal and outsourced developers The Lead Web Developer will need; - Expert knowledge of Python and JavaScript - A demonstrable ability of developing robust web applications in Django - Knowledge of AWS (The application will eventually be deployed to the cloud, but this is desirable, not essential) - Knowledge of C++ (the role will involve assisting in the development of a Python API to our C++ software, the current Scientific Software Team use C++ and a background knowledge of this language is desirable in order to collaborate better with them) Chemists within the world's leading research organizations use their software day in, day out.
