We are currently recruiting at our Foston site for a Maintenance Engineering Technician. We are looking for an experienced individual who can safely deliver cost effective maintenance activities to site assets in line with annual maintenance plans and situation demands. The successful candidate will actively seek and implement new improvement methods to increase reliability and support Maintenance Excellence roadmap implementation to assist our aim to become the biggest and best chilled dairy & Ingredients Company in the UK. Your challenge In this role the key responsibilities will include: * Be proactive and responsive in attending breakdowns to both plant and equipment in such a manner which meets the day to day needs of the production department. * Build strong awareness of departmental needs thereby maximising production output and ensuring the smooth flow of the operation. * Prioritise, through consultation with Production Shift Managers and Maintenance Managers, the order of own workload, taking into the account the factory needs. * Communicate effectively with Production Team Leaders, Operations and all engineering staff. * Contribute to the upkeep of all relevant technical documentation. * Ensure both group and individual objectives are positively progressed in line with the Muller Maintenance Strategy, and positively contribute to site initiatives as requested. * Work with the factory planned maintenance system to both develop and complete planned maintenance routines whilst constantly monitoring the effectiveness of the system. * Raise purchase order requisitions for spare parts as required, and liaise with the Engineering Services Support Controller to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained and complying with budgetary constraints and administrative systems. * Work within, and enhance where possible the team working structure on the site and actively participate in team meetings with Production, Technical, external suppliers and customers. * Implement performance improvement projects as identified by the Engineering Manager. * Provide training to Operators in basic maintenance skills. * Manage small projects as per the site plan and in conjunction with the Engineering Manager or appointed project lead. * Be responsible for identifying faults and assessing and communicating the effects on production, taking into account likely time scales for resolution and consequences of downtime. * Identify when safety standards can be improved and take appropriate action to implement improvements. * Assist Production in devising strategies to achieve output, quality, quantity, and hygiene and cost targets. * Provide expertise in Electrical, Mechanical and Pneumatic control systems ensuring efficient plant operation; ensure root cause analysis and problem solving techniques are carried out to maximise the efficiency and safety of the plant and machinery with the focus on enabling Production to meet their targets on time, on cost and to set quality standards. * Process Engineering Technician requirements; you will be the first point of call to any electrical/mechanical breakdown or performance issue on site. This could be on a production line, effluent plant or utilities function. Maintenance tasks will also be undertaken as time and production allows. Key skills & experience * Completion of a recognised apprenticeship is essential. * A minimum 5 years in maintenance is essential. * ONC, HNC, IOSHH qualifications would be desirable. * Educated in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (electrical bias is essential). * PLC programming knowledge in Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley, scarda system would be advantageous. * Tetra pack process systems knowledge. * Food Hygiene / H&S certificate is desirable. * Completion of a multi skilled training program. * Proven ability to actively apply skills in a safe and effective manner. * Ability to develop an excellent technical knowledge of the plant. * Relevant food/liquid manufacturing/filling experience is essential. * A logical fault finding approach to breakdowns and problem solving.
