About the role Balfour Beatty currently has opportunities for Project Engineers on an exciting new project based in Folkestone. Playing a pivotal role in this niche and growing business, the Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager with the planning and daily execution of the project. Responsible for maintaining certain aspects of the project schedule as assigned by the Project Manager, you will manage the process of submittal approvals, coordinating the timely delivery of materials, maintaining schedules and budgets. The role will require on-site working and setting to work of various subcontractors and direct staff, you will need to liaise with client and third party contractors along with Eurotunnel operational staff. What you'll be doing This is a varied and interesting role, with involvement in key areas of the Balfour Beatty business. On a day to day basis you will be responsible for: * Planning and producing work package plans/RAMS for various on-site activities. * Producing records and reports based on planned and actual work. * Carrying out inspections and tests in line with project process and client requirements. * Monitoring the H&S and carry out safety tours and inspections. * Liaising with design, procurement & commercial ensuring changes are captured and reported. * Planning for the order and delivery of materials. * Managing the movement of materials around site. * Planning and coordinating activities to ensure that the project is managed such that all construction activities are effective and timely: * Ensuring effective, timely and appropriate solutions are developed to fulfil the delivery requirements. * Planning, controlling and managing the delivery of construction works to meet the agreed project needs, acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales and quality. * Monitoring, reviewing and reporting on all project site activities. * Managing Change demands so that appropriate change impact assessments and approval processes are followed prior to authorising any scope changes that may impact on initial scope, duration or deliverables. * Overseeing the adherence of project governance. Who we're looking for To be successful in this role, you will have; * Sound operational knowledge of the way the BB Rail Operates. * Project Engineering experience in complex projects, Rail, IT & innovation disciplines. * Experience of managing budgets. * Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills including the development of communication and stakeholder management strategies for complex environments. * Extensive experience of leading teams and providing direction and coaching to a varied and dispersed group * Good financial skills. * Confident good communication skills * Good analytical capabilities. * Digital solution implementation skills within a construction project delivery environment. * Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint and Visio. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * The ability to act as liaison conveying the information needs of the project to other groups within BB * Ability to work on own initiative * Extensive experience of planning and deploying construction teams in complex projects * Personal resilience and perseverance. * Full UK driving license.
