North Midland Construction is a national building, civil engineering and mechanical, electrical contractor with nearly 70 years' experience. With our Head Office based in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire we operate through a number of strategically placed regional offices covering the whole of the British Isles; offering clients a one stop shop for their construction requirements. Reporting to the Design Manager the role will be working on projects predominately in the Water/Waste Water industry. The main duties include the responsibility for the following: - Outline engineering from inception to completion of schemes utilising in-house & external CAD resource - The timely completion of multiple concurrent projects, safely & within budget - Production of design plans - Produce engineering calculations for pump designs - Co-ordinate & liaise with, electrical, civil designers, sub-contractors & suppliers - Organise & attend design reviews, internally & externally - Attend site visits/meetings - Design verification & validation - Evaluation of potential hazards through design risk assessments - Control of changes & effect during design & development process - Identification & correction of problems - Potential Impacts on the Environment - Working closely with the contract delivery teams to ensure timely completion of design to meet budget and programme - Ascertain preliminary and detailed design/project requirements and solutions - Compile, document and submit ''As built'' drawings to the contract delivery team for inclusion into Operation and Maintenance Manuals - Identifying scope change through design and engineering phases and highlight these to the contract delivery teams. Skills and Qualifications Essential: - Mechanical Engineering Qualification - Graduate/HND minimum - preferably Degree Qualified - Minimum 5 years experience of working within the water and / or sewage industries - AutoCAD Experience - Working knowledge of Microsoft packages - Self motivation - ability to meet deadlines - Be proactive in your approach - An excellent communicator - A high level of diplomacy and customer focused Desirable: - Mechanical Degree Qualification - 3D modelling - Appreciation of other disciplines (Civil / Electrical) We offer an attractive benefits package in a rapidly expanding forward thinking company.
