Our Business Services department is looking for an experienced Web Developer to join their expanding team. Primarily focusing on design although with the drive to wanting to learn how to code or with some experience. This role covers a variety of business entities which complement the traditional motor retailer organisation. This spans from forming links with the financial sector, insurance companies to large consumer advertising platforms. It is a fantastic opportunity to join our team and contribute to exciting development plans ahead for existing and new projects. The Role ? Version Control - using version control and disciplined in managing versions of code ? Leading to accountability for the release cycle. ? Web security - Be security conscious when writing code and must be aware of OWASP and ensure methods of preventing security flaws ? Infrastructure - an understanding of infrastructure used in a web hosted environment. E.g. web hosting servers, DNS, mail flow, etc. ? Modify and document changes in our custom backend system to allow for the day-to-day usage of both clients and members of our sales team. ? Required to use graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop to break apart and modify web page designs from our design department ? The role will often focus on developing front end webpages and changes to our websites requiring cross browser compatibility and validation on visitor facing forms ? Testing and documentation of amends ? Communication with other members of staff will be essential in this role in order to maintain stability across all aspects of our platform. ? Use of basic command line server management may occasionally be necessary ? Salary will be negotiable depending on experience The Person The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in :- ? PHP and MySQL databases ? Magento 2 ? HTML, CSS and JavaScript for front end development. ? Familiarity with software such as Adobe Dreamweaver and Photoshop ? Version Control - you should be capable of using version control and disciplined in managing versions of code. Leading to accountability for the release cycle. ? Web security - you should be security conscious when writing code and must be aware of OWASP and ensure methods of preventing security flaws are in place. ? Infrastructure - you should have a basic understanding of infrastructure used in a web hosted environment. E.g. web hosting servers, DNS, mail flow, etc. ? Excellent communication skills ? The ability to project plan and meet deadlines. ? Server management would be an advantage Qualifications in the relevant areas are essential with an evidenced portfolio of previous development work and examples of both an ability to modify and adapt existing script as well as writing new systems will be key.
