Main Duties and Responsibilities: - Manage information technology and computer systems. Ensuring that staff are fully equipped with both machinery and software required to carry out daily activities. - Plan, organise, control and evaluate IT and electronic data operations; evaluating the functionality of systems, consulting computer users to ascertain needs and to ensure that facilities meet user or project requirements, selecting and purchasing appropriate hardware and software - Ensure the security of data, network access and backup systems; preserve assets, information security and control structures, ensuring software licensing laws are followed, implementing and managing security or integrity and backup procedures, scheduling upgrades, providing user training, support, advice and feedback, testing and modifying systems to ensure that that they operate reliably, managing secure network access for remote users, keeping up to date with new technology, designing maintenance procedures and putting them into operation - Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in a prompt manner and ensure all requisite network connections function effectively. - To ensure compliance and progression in line with any relevant IT standard. - Consider and propose wider IT strategy to senior management for approval. Consider and control budgetary responsibility for IT equipment and software solutions. - Provide advice and guidance to all staff for IT queries and be the on hand port of call for IT related matters. Required Skills and Experience: - Builds appropriate professional, friendly and accessible relationships with colleagues and suppliers - Ability to communicate well both in writing and verbally - Ability to work under pressure - Good level of numeracy - Good organisational skills - Uses own initiative and can work independently - Takes responsibility for own work - Uses judgement to know when to ask for help and guidance - Flexible approach to work - Experience within a fast paced manufacturing environment.
