OddSphere is a small company, currently three employees, so you'll have to be comfortable working in a small office and sometimes on your own. But mainly you will be working with Shipster, our courier application. A Technical Assistant provides support to a senior member of the technical staff, and completes a wide variety of advanced tasks. From simple development work, to complex project management and technical support, you will be involved in all aspects of the company and become an essential part of the team. You will get to know our clients, and form relationships with their front-line staff. You will be exposed to a wide variety of different technologies, from server hosting, network engineering, and programming (Server, web and application). We are working on the understanding that whoever we hire will be taken on as a full-time developer at the end of the apprenticeship. Responsibilities of the Technical Assistant Apprentice: - Your day to day responsibilities will revolve around assisting the managing director in his varied duties, helping get new clients online with our software, configuring installations and providing technical support to front-line users. - A portion of your week will be spent completing development projects, with the assistance of the MD. - Training in addition to your scheduled learning with the apprenticeship will also be provided, within work time. Requirements of the Technical Assistant Apprentice: - Someone who already knows a programming language is essential; - We don't expect you to be an expert, but we want someone who dreams of being paid to be a programmer full-time. You should have an analytical mind. - You should enjoy taking things to pieces and putting them back together again just so you can see how to do it. - The ability to notice small details and changes, to be fastidious about the tiniest thing. We need a real problem solver who will use their initiative and try out their own solutions to a problem first; These are all qualities we look for in technical staff. Benefit: - We don't start until 10AM, and we take a full lunch. - We want our employees to be relaxed and rested when they work. - We have an open policy on internet usage, and are flexible on work hours.
