Software Engineer - Belfast We at Alert Logic are looking for two talented and passionate Software Engineers to join us in our highly skilled software engineering team, based within our growing Belfast office. The two Software Engineers will be members of a team who work on a core part of Alert Logic's product infrastructure and solution. The Analytics team design, develop and deliver a solution that deals with millions of messages a second, and enables Alert Logic's analytics platform to produce real-time threat information for our SOC. The Software Engineers will play a key part in the constant development and support of software solutions within a large scale distributed analytics platform. These roles represent excellent opportunities for Software Engineers who are looking for the next step in their careers and are keen to push themselves with new technologies and challenge themselves by working on an industry leading security solution. Key role responsibilities - Develop, implement, and test fast scalable software to be run in a distributed environment - Create efficient and elegant solutions using bleeding-edge technologies - Document solutions and changes - Work with other Engineers to provide development support as an escalation point should there be any urgent issues affecting the platform - Work with international teams and participate in team meetings and collaboration sessions - Participate in software deployments and take advantage of modern distributed techniques Required skills and experience - Good experience of software development in languages such C / C++ / Java / Erlang, ideally within a Linux/Unix environment - Previous experience of scripting with the likes of Perl, Python, Bash, Haskell - Awareness of networking protocols such IP, TCP, UDP, and HTTP - Comfortable working within the command line for Linux / Unix. - Knowledge of writing functional and unit tests - Exposure to continuous integration platforms such as Jenkins - Past work experience within an Agile / Scrum / Kanban environment Desired skills and experience - Knowledge of functional programming concepts - Any experience with large distributed systems, or big data, or enterprise security solutions - Knowledge of Cloud infrastructure such as AWS or Azure - Past work with automated configuration management tools such as Puppet or Chef - Experience with SQL databases In return the Software Engineers can expect a highly competitive salary and benefits package that includes 25 days holiday, company pension, private medical, free parking, free gym sessions, and life assurance.
