Simbec-Orion Group Limited (“Simbec-Orion” or the “Group”) was created in June 2014 by the merger of Simbec Research Limited (“Simbec”) and Orion Clinical Services Limited (“Orion”). As a result of the merger, Simbec-Orion is today a full service CRO covering first in human Phase I clinical studies through to pivotal Phase III studies and Phase IV post marketing studies. Simbec-Orion supports its clients with our own in-house full service central laboratories, pharmacovigilance, data management and statistics, IMP management/pharmacy, medical management. We have expertise in all drug types, dosage forms and delivery mechanisms and in later stage development and have six core therapeutic disciplines: oncology, rare and orphan diseases, respiratory disorders, dermatology, infectious disease & vaccines, and translational medicine. We operate internationally serving clients anywhere in the world with physical operations in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic, Poland, Australia, South Africa and the United States of America. We have a combined staff approaching 250 people with the greatest concentrations in the UK and France. It is our objective to become widely recognised as being a significant international full service CRO known for its excellence both across its range of services and in its therapeutic disciplines. We compete effectively against many of our larger competitors by offering a broader range of services and with greater depth of knowledge in our chosen therapeutic areas. Given the background of a number of our senior leadership team, we think with the same focus as our clients - as drug developers and not simply as outsource service providers. Our goal is to meet their actual needs and not simply execute a study. Our growth targets aim to see the Group grow from its current size of approximately revenues of £25m ($37m) per annum to £100m ($150m). This will be achieved in part by organic growth but also through further M&A activity. Profile: The remit of this exciting new role starts long before the RFP stage; you will be part of a team responsible for developing an understanding of costs across our core business units and harmonisation of pricing strategies. You will take responsibility for supporting revenue development including delivery of accurate and timely client budgets, assessments and reporting of key data including resource utilisation and project spend. With prior experience with analyses of cost, price and forecasting, you will contribute towards the development of tools and templates to improve efficiency and ultimately, to improve company profitability. You are an experienced numerist with a strong background in Clinical Research who is passionate about drug development and seeking a challenging and rewarding career in a commercially focussed role. You have the analytical mind-set required to develop complex budgets. You will have the confidence to support the delivery of headline information for financial discussions with senior management in order to maximise revenue obtained through new business and project out of scopes, contributing towards achieving the Group’s revenue objective to grow from its current size of £25m per annum to £100m. You will be responsible for budget development for new business opportunities and project out of scopes, participation in regular status meetings, client and internal meetings and working under the guidance of senior colleagues to meet the budget development schedule and timeline with the Proposal Development team to ensure successful, high quality delivery. A high degree of management and coordination is essential; this job is for you if you are a problem solver who is able to propose logical solutions to complex challenges. You can focus on getting jobs done properly and you enjoy working in a collegiate manner with senior colleagues and subject matter experts; you thrive on pressure, maintaining a level-headedness that brings a sense of calm to our team when deadlines are looming and letting nothing fall through the cracks. Your participation will be key to support the development of new pricing strategies, themes and templates involving day-to-day interaction with your senior colleagues, under the guidance of which you will deal with short deadlines and quick turnarounds. The quality of our proposals and, indeed, the proposal development process will improve with your support from the revenue development perspective. Therefore you will be expected to introduce new ideas to improve group-wide output. You will hold a degree in life sciences and demonstrable experience in drug development processes, and you will have a proven track record in a budget analyst role or similar. You will have excellent communication and time management skills to manage multiple projects at any one time, seeking support from senior colleagues to manage workload efficiently.
