Overview:

Reporting in to the Head of Finance, we have an opening for a Finance Assistant to join our finance team in Norwich to cover a period of Maternity on a fixed term contract of approximately 12 months.

We are looking for an experienced Finance Assistant who can ensure transactions are executed and recorded accurately and in a timely manner; support the Head of Finance in managing the company’s finances and to support the Management Accountants with the delivery of their roles.

Key responsibilities:

  • Produce sales invoices in a timely manner, both from drafts created by colleagues and self-generated
  • Accurately record transactions, capturing all necessary elements in a timely manner, always meeting the Finance timetable
  • Provide support to the Management Accountants, helping them to fulfil their roles
  • Produce sales invoices and recording of other transactions to expected service level, demonstrating an understanding of the context of transactions and how they are reported within the Agency’s MI
  • Recognise wider requirements (e.g. payroll taxes implications) of transactions and liaise with appropriate colleagues in a timely fashion to ensure full capture for compliance and reporting requirements
  • Adhere to Agency Finance processes and expect the same of colleagues
  • Build good relationships internally across all departments, especially working collaboratively with the Head of Finance and others in the Finance team

Essential skills and attributes

  • AAT, or equivalent qualification and/or previous experience working at the equivalent level
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills; the ability to set up and maintain spreadsheets
  • Competent and confident in using Sage accounting software (we use Sage 200c Standard online), other Microsoft Office programs, and the Microsoft Windows environment
  • Ability to quickly learn effective use of bespoke software – we use this for time and materials job costing and recording
  • Apply a forward-thinking approach to all aspects of your work, displayed by a positive, proactive, can-do attitude
  • Practise good time management to meet various and multiple deadlines
  • Present effective written and verbal communications
  • Use good organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills
  • Work flexibly to deliver Agency needs
  • Self-motivated, think agilely and be creatively curious and passionate about all you do
