I am currently working on behalf of a world-leading Pharmaceutical company who is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Research & Development department on a 12 month contract in Leeds.

The successful candidate will possess a technically relevant minimum BEng or BSc Degree (MEng preferred), plus 2 years of appropriate mechanical design/engineering experience. Design experience from within the medical device field, is not a pre-requisite for the Design Engineer however all product design experience is valued.

As a lateral and creative thinking Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be given the opportunity to transpose your own knowledge on manufacturing methods and limitations into cost effective design solutions.

The right candidate will carry out 3D-CAD modelling and detail in accordance with ISO/ASME and company standards including the use and understanding of, for example, Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing & weld specifications, ensuring that engineering designs are safe, effective and appropriately verified. Scope includes externally generated designs, 3-D models and drawings; ensuring that data conforms to company standards and worldwide Regulatory requirements. You will also ensure engineering designs are safe, effective and appropriately verified.

You will furthermore be given the platform to conduct new product development and qualitative research, often face to face with customers and users, to develop the company's understanding of the customer's view on its products and services.

Alongside this, you will be entrusted to perform the necessary engineering calculations or simulations that veify detail design and minimalise physical testing.

You will also be involved in the contribution of the creation and improvement of company procedures converting ideas into patent memos and filed patents.
