BMS European Capability Centre (ECC)

BMS's Capability Centre has grown up from 50 to over 250 employees in the last two years and it remains to keep growing with new opportunities. The site's core business is to provide different enabling functions, like: Accountancy, HR, IT, etc. to 26 different countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Due to the number of market we work with, we have 38 different nationalities within the centre, which makes it a really appealing place to work.

The team

BMS European Capability Centre (ECC) is seeking to recruit a permanent Assistant Accountant with Portuguese reporting to the Record to Report Manager.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day activities related to Record to Report including (but not limited to) journal entry processing, closing activities, reconciliations, and specific analytical and reporting tasks.

Key accountabilities

Detailed Position Responsibilities

  • Accountable for field user services and through key strategic partnerships will manage the overall user experience.
  • Preparation of manual journal entries in accordance with work instructions.
  • Execute, support and document control activities in accordance with work instructions.
  • Analyze and validate transactions posted automatically if required
  • Monitor and manage specific month end (and year end) related activities per Month End Close Timetable
  • Perform a specific ME and QA analysis
  • Execute activities required by individual market fiscal authorities, including e.g. statistical reports
  • Perform scheduled Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation Activities, action, monitor and execute escalations.
  • Attend Technical Accounting Meetings and update existing procedural documentation.
  • Provide internal and external audit support including supporting management response and resolution.
  • Maintain and adhere to record to report procedural documentation.
  • Support testing of process and system upgrades, enhancements and implementations.
  • Support monthly KPIs and performance reporting.
  • Actively participate on continuous improvement
  • Requirements

    Must have requirements

  • Degree in accounting or equivalent business experience, supported by extensive accounting experience
  • Ability to employ analytical and conceptual thinking.
  • Effective communicator within various levels across the organization and externally.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Experience in operating in a team based environment working on multiple tasks in changing priorities.
  • Excellent computer skills with competencies in MS applications (Excel, Outlook), strong SAP and SAP BI working knowledge
  • Candidate must be fluent (both oral and written) in English and Portuguese. Spanish is a plus.
