Kelly Scientific are working with a global leader in the Medical Devices industry who are looking for a Senior Materials Engineer to join their team in Leeds on an initial 12 month contract. The main purpose of the role will be to evaluate and provide materials advice to the R&D team.

Further Responsibilities:
  • Create and review materials specifications, ensuring they are accurate and up to date
  • Write technical reports
  • Develop a strong understanding of the orthopaedic market and business needs
  • Present project work to the groups, providing technical support
  • Become a subject matter expert in metallurgic scientific discipline, eventually mentoring other team members
  • Develop strong working relationships with R&D and other departments

  • MSc or higher in Materials Science, Materials Engineering or similar
  • Substantial industry experience (2 years+, outside of university projects) in materials processing, metallurgy and materials performance
  • Previous experience of developing materials specifications
  • Further knowledge of titanium and super alloys is highly advantageous
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Competency in physical metallurgy, mechanical behaviour and advanced microstructural characterisation is also desirable
