QIAGEN has a broad portfolio of hardware from sample preparation automation to cyclers or gene-sequencers and assoc. spare parts in a regulated market, which are produced externally at contract manufactures. The Manager System Management Instrumentation is expected to manage and improve the life cycle management of QIAGEN`s automation portfolio throughout the entire product lifecycle.

The system management team continuously analyses factors that influence the success of the products within their responsibility and drives corrective actions. The Manager System Management Instrumentation responsibilities’ include the management of the complete system with reagents, hardware, software and service.

The success of the team is defined by meeting or overachieving product revenue budgets, by active product life cycle extension and continuous improvement of product margins. Conformance to all applicable regulatory standards and regulations has to be ensured. The Manager System Management Instrumentation sets the focus and priorities for the product platform teams and process integration teams.

Main tasks (primary responsibilities) of the position:

  • Overall responsibility for System including reagent, consumable, instrument, software and service. Leads Projects in the Supply Chain and partner management environment for Instrumentation and reagents/consumables (Medical devices) during acquisitions, new product introduction and product lifecycle.
  • Leads a cross functional team for product management and integration across the different product categories.
  • Drives continues improvement along the value chain for the system and initiates cost and or value optimization initiatives.
  • Represents Operations interests in sourcing decisions (including make or buy) as well in acquisition related activities (pre and post-acquisition).
  • Central interface of Operations to all relevant Business Areas (Product Management, R&D, Lifecycle management).
  • Leads successfully the systems management team, lives & drives the system idea in the team.
  • Coordinates new regulatory submissions for systems in his/her responsibility and supports overall system compliance (QA and regulatory requirements).
  • Enforces strong success & business focus of the team while contributing with excellent product & market knowledge.
  • Efficient communication in the team and to the outside providing clear direction, focus & priorities to achieve team goals.
Position Requirements

  • University degree in Scientific and Technical subject.
  • Experience of working in a scientific or technical industry with an understanding of economics.
  • Solid experience in leading supply chain/product management projects in an global environment.
  • Experience in Medical Device Industry is mandatory.
  • Experience in SAP or other ERP systems as a plus.
  • Process Optimization (i.e. Lean / Six Sigma) experience.

  • Able to work in a highly matrixed organization as well as independently.
  • Used to work with and present to senior management.
  • A good command of the English language.
