Continuous Improvement Engineer
Location: / Sheerness, Kent, UK
- With the Manufacturing Manager, input to a strategic vision for manufacturing and from that, develop and carry out the implementation process. Constantly update the strategic vision to identify improvement projects.
Manage Kaizen improvement events.
Liaise with Value Stream Leaders to identify projects to improve efficiency, output, quality and safety.
Liaise with external suppliers to ensure equipment and consumables used are appropriate to the operations and are the most efficient solution.
Support the 5s initiative to ensure that improvements are sustained and embedded within the business.
Ensure working areas are ergonomically designed for minimal operator movement/strain and maintained in such a manner.
Provide and maintain work instructions for all new processes in conjunction with Value Stream Leaders.
Ensure the factory layout, both at macro and micro levels, is suitable for an efficient manufacturing process.
Provision of training to personnel as and when required, meeting departmental requirements.
Undertake special projects as directed by the Departmental Manager or Management Team
- Degree qualification in an Engineering discipline.
Relevant years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably Fabrication:
Has experience of Lean manufacturing principles and their implementation.
Six sigma experience desirable.
Ability to interpret drawings and technical documents.
Ability to interact at all levels within a business.
Project management skills.
A working knowledge of SAP is advantageous.
A working knowledge of SolidWorks and/or Radan/Google Sketchup.
Demonstrate working practical PC Skills, specifically MS Office (Word, Excel & Power Point) as minimum.
