This is an exciting opportunity for a bright, ambitious and engaging graduate, or Part-Qualified accounting professional for a Trainee financial Accountant, in our Finance Shared Service Centre (SSC) based in Nottinghamshire. In this exciting role you will be involved with General Ledger, VAT, KPI’s, fixed assets transactions for multiple clients, prepare statutory accounts, reconcile sub-ledgers with an opportunity to study towards a professional accounting qualification.
The Finance Shared Service Centre (SSC) provides accounting support for all manufacturing and holding companied with in Saint-Gobain UK and Ireland. We are hard-working, focused and passionate about what we do; this coupled with our customer-centric attitude makes for a successful team that is essential part of the Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland group.
In the role as Trainee Financial Accountant you will;
Prepare and post all accruals and all journal entries into SAP as agreed with clients
Reconcile sub-ledgers with general ledger
Perform the fixed asset accounting, reporting and reconciliation process
Finalise month end and inter-company reconciliation processes in liaison with Accounts Payable, Cash Management and Accounts Receivable team members
Prepare monthly and yearly balance justifications and balance sheet reconciliation file
Prepare the monthly KPI’s and associated analysis providing SSC management and Client with all relevant information and actions required
Prepare monthly sign off file for multiple clients

For the Trainee Financial Accountant specifically it is important that you have:
Knowledge of General Ledger accounting principles, activities and processes
Knowledge of local statutory accounting rules
Awareness of IFRS and local fiscal rules
Good communication skills
Good team working skills
High degree of accuracy & strong numeric skills
Results oriented with the ability to meet deadlines
Ability to prioritise workload, resources and manage time
Good knowledge in ERP GL modules (preferably SAP)
Excellent knowledge of PCs and MS Office
AAT or part-qualified accountant with some relevant, practical experience.
