The key purpose of the Communications Manager is to establish an external Content, PR and Social Media strategy in conjunction with the Senior Marketing and PR Manger. To plan and deliver content led marketing campaigns that support the needs of the business, build the company’s profile and project a positive image.
To be the lead point of contact for all media enquiries to the organisation and provide communications subject matter expertise to the business, ensuring organisational initiatives are successfully communicated to employees.

Key accountabilities

Your main responsibilities will be to develop and manage excellent relationships with key media contacts (e.g. music trade, media stakeholders, local newspapers) and key advisory bodies and business influencers (e.g. FSB, local councils). You will identify journalists according to their interests and spheres of influence in order to deliver and maximise press and PR media opportunities. You will manage responses to all PR queries regarding public performance licensing, helping maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders and journalists. You will plan, write and manage the delivery of press releases and briefings and high quality coverage across a range of media channels, supporting core messages of the company. You will be responsible to manage responses to issues and crisis communications, ensuring that any difficult enquiries are dealt with efficiently and in a professional manner. You will work with PRS and PPL comms and marketing stakeholders to ensure alignment on PR strategy and core messages. In regards to content and social media you will be involved in the creation and development of content to engage customers, drive brand awareness and integrate with acquisition and retention marketing activity
Evolve social media presence, strategy and approach; including platform presence, integration of social across channels and consumer engagement and interactions (YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, etc) and utilise content and media contacts/relationships for SEO outreach activity to improve website KPIs.

Skills & experience

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level and have minimum 3 years communications and PR and Social Media experience (music or media industry and/or B2B experience preferred). You will have Journalistic/creative writing and content creation experience with strong news sense with an excellent understanding of current media issues. The ideal candidate will have experience of utilising traditional and new tools (press, networking, social media, blogs etc.) and experience of analysing and interpreting market research or financial results to deliver publicity. A Proven track record of delivering successful social media initiatives across the whole marketing funnel inc. experience in using digital/social to generate sales, leads and retention is desired.
