This team, under the leadership of our global process owners, will be responsible for our core global Finance operational and reporting production processes.Within AFO, we have a dedicated team supporting the group’s reinsurance market finance team, responsible for all financial reporting relating to Aviva International Insurance Limited (AII) and Aviva Re.AII is a substantial captive insurer, with over £50bn of assets, writing both Life and GI business, and plays a pivotal role in the success of Aviva, supporting the business to achieve targeted financial returns and maintaining the confidence of our shareholders and regulators.Our strategy is to drive commercial value, deliver excellence in capital and solvency management, drive operational excellence and operate as one outstanding team. Aviva Re is Aviva’s offshore captive reinsurance vehicle, which provides further targeted opportunities around capital and solvency management, as well as running off historic liabilities.The PersonWe’re looking for a qualified accountant with demonstrable post-qualified experience, ideally gained within a large insurance company environment. You will have a strong mix of relationship management and technical accounting skills (across both IFRS and Solvency II), and a good understanding of both life and non-life insurance products and markets.You will have a proven record of people management skills, of operating at a senior/executive management level and of being able to influence other stakeholders. You will have demonstrable experience of delivery that shows a focus on: quality, insight, timeliness, and a robust control ethic.This is hugely varied role, and while you will need to be comfortable with dealing with a broad spectrum of responsibilities and tasks, it will provide the successful candidate with a diverse range of development opportunities and a strong position to progress their career within Aviva.Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe primary purpose of the role will be in relation to the final delivery of financial information to support decision making and legal entity statutory/regulatory reporting requirements in respect of AII and Aviva Re.You’ll be working in a small specialist team within AFO supporting the Market Finance teams of those business units. As the Head of Finance, and therefore key contact within the team this includes, but is not limited to, responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of all outputs into those Market Finance teams, such as the:production of regular IFRS reporting, including annual IFRS statutory accountsproduction of Pillar 3 QRT reporting, and the preparation of the annual SFCR and RSRproduction of data to support planning and forecasting processes, liquidity monitoring and cost managementpreparation of regular CFO packs to support Board reportingproduction of ad hoc and other regular information to support various Group and legal entity reporting requirementsAdditionally, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth hand-offs and interactions across teams, the timely and accurate resolution of queries, the maintenance of a robust control environment, and a continual focus on process improvement.Skills & Experience requiredQualifications:Degree level or equivalent.Qualified Accountant with relevant post qualification experience.Skills/Knowledge:Overall mix of relationship management skills and actuarial skills including:Strong insurance IFRS accounting knowledge in respect of both life and GI business, including a good understanding of both reinsurance and consolidation accountingStrong Solvency II Pillar 3 reporting knowledge, in respect of both life and GI businessAn understanding of Bermudan regulatory reporting requirements would be desirableAn understanding Solvency II Pillar 1 actuarial and capital concepts is desirableAn understanding of other non-IFRS GAAP (including French and Canadian GAAP) is desirableInfluencing and relationship management skills essentialStrong control ethicProven people management skillsExperience of operating at senior/executive management level and of influencing senior management and other stakeholdersBroad and deep knowledge of insurance products (both life and non-life) and marketsRelevant financial services sector experience and experience of working in a regulated environmentAbility to work effectively in a multicultural environmentStrong project management skillsAbility to understand and interpret large amounts of data and narrative, and summarise it into succinct, meaningful and insightful commentaryEnsure deliverables to very high qualitative standards and against concurrent deadlinesProactive stakeholder management skillsExcellent communication skills, both written and oralPrioritisation capabilitiesExperience:Strong financial accounting, Pillar 3 reporting and control experience in a large multi-national organisationHands on experience of preparing Statutory AccountsHands on experience of preparing Solvency and Financial Condition Reports and Regular Supervisory ReportsExperience of working in an international firm, with significant interactions across multiple stakeholdersInsurance/reinsurance IFRS experience (both GI and Life)Pillar 3 reporting experienceProven track record of effective relationship management and influencing experienceExperience of working with an outsourced service provider in relation to financial reporting is desirableExperience of Oracle General Ledger, Cartesis Magnitude and Anaplan desirableAdditional InformationBring to Aviva what makes you different and we’ll support you to do the best work of your life.
