We are currently recruiting for a Research Assistant in our Genetic Toxicology department in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. In this role you will be providing assistance in the performing and data recording of, any aspects of Genetic Toxicology assays, both in vitro and in vivo where applicable, in compliance with appropriate SOPs, GLPs, and regulatory guidelines. Duties include routine procedures associated with the day to day running of the laboratory areas. We encourage cross-training between different labs so you will gain invaluable Experience in more than one lab environment. Other responsibilities will be: Performing all standard and non-standard assays as required in assigned area (80%). Performing all standard assays and procedures as required in a second area (10%). Maintenance, cleaning and calibration of equipment within assigned area (10%). Recording of daily metrology in assigned area. Preparation of laboratory worksheets in line with study design and protocols. Requesting departmental test article solubility assessments, including media solubility where appropriate. Calculation of test article dilutions, formulation and dilution of test articles for use in the assays. Scoring assay end point (where appropriate) and the production of any related data. Formatting of end point data ready for either reporting or for client dispatch by the responsible Study Director Ordering of consumable items, media and stock chemical solutions as required. Jointly responsible for the removal of laboratory waste. Checking raw data in the study files The individual has a responsibility to conduct all work in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, and specifically those regulations (GLP and/or GCP) specified in the study plans, protocols, or work agreements governing the work in which they are involved. Education/Qualifications Typically a Bachelor degree in a scientific field, Genetic, Biomedical or Microbiology or equivalent. Experience We are ideally looking for someone with previous lab Experience but are happy to consider lab Experience gained through education or during a gap year. Previous Experience in microbiology, cytology, genetics or bacteriology would be beneficial but not essential. Knowledge and understanding of GLP, cell culturing and aseptic techniques would be essential.
