The role of Ledgers Clerk is an important part of the finance team.

Applications from experienced and proven Ledger Clerks only should be provided and previous knowledge of Sage would be an advantage although is not essential.

Job Title:Ledgers Clerk
Reports to: Finance Manager

Main Purpose of the Job:
To ensure that the Sales and purchase ledgers are accurately maintained and process deadlines are met

Main Responsibilities:
- The timely and accurate processing of sales and supplier invoices, credit notes, payments and any other authorised transactions into the sales and purchase ledgers
- The matching of supplier invoices with purchase orders and sales invoices with job sheets and sales orders
- Resolving internal issues regarding sales and supplier invoices such as coding, pricing, booking-in etc
- The timely and accurate preparation of supplier payment requests, whether by manual cheque or BACS
- Periodic reconciliation of supplier accounts to supplier statements - together with the processing of valid reconciling items in order to ensure the accuracy of ledger data
- Periodic validation of customer accounts and reconciliation of sales against deliveries
- Resolving customer and supplier queries as required
- The preparation of period-end receivable and payables reports
- Ad hoc duties as required

Essential skills, qualifications and knowledge:

- AAT level one or equivalent preferred
- Good PC skills, with sufficient understanding of Excel and Word
- Proven Experience of accounts receivable and payable processing within a computerised environment
- Pro-active approach
- Excellent attention to detail, quality and accuracy
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to clearly communicate in a professional manner
- Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to deal effectively with both colleagues and suppliers
- Proven recent Experience and an appreciation of computerised business systems
