This leading independent commercial vehicle repairer requires an HGV Workshop Foreman to work in their busy modern workshops in Alfreton.

The position involves taking charge of their afternoon shift. You will be enthusiastic and have excellent interpersonal skills as the role involves organising staff in a fast moving environment. The position is hands on so you will be working directly and leading technicians on the shop floor. You will be required to work from 12 noon until 10pm but some flexibility is required if work needs to be completed before the end of the shift. You will take full control of the depot after 6pm when the service department staff finish for the day. This includes being responsible for securing the premises after the afternoon shift finishes. As part of the package you will have a van to travel to and from work.

Some customer liaison and taking telephone calls is required. The dayshift technicians finish at 6pm. After that time you will be in charge of two technicians who will be working the afternoon shift along side you. Between 12 noon and 6pm you will work alongside the dayshift foreman.

As well as supervisory skills you will need to process the following skills:

Inspection & preparation of trucks and trailers for MOT.

Routine inspection, servicing and maintenance. Repair of noted defects.

Repair and overhaul of major components.

You will be able to work efficiently to very high quality standards and will be fully aware of the latest VOSA heavy vehicle inspection standards.

You should be flexible in your approach and be enthusiastic about learning new skills and participating in further training as well as enjoying working as part of a team but equally, able to work on your own initiative.

LGV C+E Driving Licence.

Familiar with modern diagnostic equipment and have their own tool kit.

Be prepared to work alternate Saturday mornings

They offer specialist brake, suspension and vehicle diagnostic services, being a service centre for the 3 main truck and trailer original equipment suppliers. Tail lift and double deck maintenance and inspection services. Ongoing staff training & development always available.

They operate a 2 lane VOSA ATF centre on site and also offer tachograph calibration, diagnostics & repair.

Salary negotiable overtime available if required. A van is supplied with the role.
