The Company: A family run company established over 100 years ago. They operate in a number of market sectors namely Retail, Scientific laboratory and Industrial (predominantly H&V). They are a manufacturing company who have built a reputation of quality and service and supply customers both home and abroad.

Summary of main responsibilities:

- Manage all Engineering functions across the company to maintain and improve company efficiency and productivity.
- Work to objectives defined by overall company strategy and analyse performance against agreed KPIs to achieve continuous improvement in everything we do.
- Prepare data and reports for discussion at monthly board meetings.
- Lead, supervise and coach engineers and contractors to create solutions to technical problems as they arise.
- Assess and manage company specific risks relating to current Health and Safety legislation.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environmental
Review, develop, implement and lead all company Health and Safety management systems, to ensure the safety of staff, visitors, contractors and members of the public in line with current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.

Facilities Management
Maintain and improve existing premises, services and equipment. Manage and improve existing planned maintenance schedule and ensure availability of facilities as required by production.

Oversee the restructuring of the manufacturing operation and adapt their facility to suit changing business needs.

Process & Product Development
Design new products and processes from scratch and make improvements to existing facilities. Document the design process and deliver solutions in line with company and customer requirements.

Budgetary Control and Capital Investment
Identify areas where capital investment is required and prepare justification for spending in the form of technical benefits and payback period.

Decision Making
- Define company strategy, objectives, policies and procedures.
- Resolution of technical challenges to minimise impact on profitability.
- Evaluate company risks and recommend suitable actions to mitigate where felt necessary.
- Recruitment, retention and remuneration of staff.

Qualifications
HNC (Level 4) in Mechanical Engineering (or suitable equivalent) as well as proven track record of change management. IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety or similar suitably recognised training course.
