Senior Legal Counsel
A leading Global Financial Institution is seeking to employ a Senior Legal Counsel, based in London.
Hours 35 per week/permanent.

The role holder will work with the Operational Risk Function, representing Legal’s position on Legal Risk issues in particular relating to the Operational Risk Transformation Programme. They will work with the Global BRCM, Group Legal BRCM and Group Legal COO team advising on matters of Legal Risk policy and providing advice on the implementation of Operational Risk policy in the global Legal function if required. The role holder will work with the wider LRMA team, and will seek the views of lawyers globally, identifying areas where further standardisation and /or guidance and/or templates are required to assist lawyers in meeting their responsibilities under the Operational Risk management framework, and once identified prepares / assists in preparing and communicating the relevant guidance, templates and policies. They will work on key LRMA initiatives, including requirements of the Operational Risk Transformation Programme, projects relating to governance of the global Legal function, internal audits, other internal or external reviews as appropriate and they will provide support to the other members of the LRMA policy and review teams and the Regional and Business Line Legal Risk Coordinators where relevant. The role holder will assist in the design and build of the framework and structures for the management of Operational Risk within the Legal function consistent with the Group's Operational Risk management framework and will provide advice on legal matters to the Global and Group Legal BRCMs on their roles supporting Risk Owners and Control Owners in the global Legal function as appropriate. The role holder will assist in the design and build of the framework and structures for the management of Legal Risk in the businesses and functions consistent with the Group's Operational Risk management framework, including developing standardised tools and develop strategies (including communication plans and project plans) for the implementation of the risk management framework across the global Legal function.
The successful candidate will be a graduate and will have the following:
- Qualified Lawyer with practical in-house legal experience
- Audit or Compliance, or policy experience
- Good knowledge of banking corporate structures
- Leadership skills;
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritise;
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and strong inter-personal skills
- Lateral thinking/problem solving
