THE JOB
To provide direct support to people with a learning disability/physical disability in order to maximise their life experience and their potential in exercising their rights as full and valued citizens within the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To assist and support people with a learning disability with the tasks entailed in maintaining and managing a home
To maintain financial records of expenditure

To pay due regard to people's aspirations, wishes and needs

To undertake personal care and daily living tasks as agreed with the service user, their family and professionals involved with the individual service plan

To work at all times within the policies and procedures of our client

To provide service users with opportunities to express their preference as to the way that care tasks are carried out

To develop and maintain professional working relationships with service users and work colleagues from a wide variety of backgrounds

To communicate regularly with the immediate supervisor, in particular regarding changes in the service user's condition or circumstances

To use the service's on-call system in accordance with the service guidance

To complete documentation, including service user records and time sheets

To comply with all Health and Safety Policies and Procedures

To participate in supervision, staff meetings and training activities as required

To be responsible for maintaining and improving own knowledge and skills through experience and training

Our ideal candidate

·Have NVQ level 2 or be willing to work towards this
·Be willing to work rostered hours
·Be willing to undertake required training (including updates), sometimes off site and out of normal working hours
·Have experience of working with people with learning disabilities
