Works Manager - Civil Engineering (Roads & Infrastructure)

Our client is one of the country's largest privately owned contractors within annual turnover in excess £5billion per annum and with interests across all aspects of construction. They are continually looking towards the future with heavy investment in new innovation and are always looking to make sure they are their people are at the cutting edge of their industry.

They are currently at the initial stages of one of the highest profile infrastructure projects along the Thames which will eventually alleviate all raw sewage away from the London region .

They are currently looking for a Works Manager to work alongside a Project Manager on a £30milllion pound project which is a mixture of access roads, hard & soft landscaping and utility diversions.

The Works Manager will be responsible for managing all the trades and labour for the entire project. To ensure the project achieves the required HSE & Q, budget, time, and quality targets by successfully supervising and coordinating the activities of work crews on site during the construction, installation, inspection, testing, commissioning and finalisation phases

Key Responsibilities:

HSE Performance
•The Works Manager is required to carry out the specific performance objectives as outlined in the Safety Management System.
•They are required to assess the safety and environmental risks, develop management plans and keep records for the delivery phase of the project.
•They will ensure all subcontractors and suppliers in their work area carry out their obligations.
•They are responsible for carrying out inspections, conducting audits and closing out any HSE issues raised in their area.

Delivery of Projects
•They will understand and coordinate the scope of works applicable to their work area and the subcontractors and suppliers in the area.
•They will organise the work sequence to be safe, productive and efficient.
•They will maintain a diary to capture HSE performance, numbers of resources on site, status of program, instructions issued, plant on hire etc.
•They will maintain open lines of communication within the site team and attend all required meetings.
•Together with the Project Manager, take all the delivery responsibility for their allocated work area.
