Job purpose

Assistant Buyer is responsible to arrange the supply of material and services essential for company’s operations. You will strategize to find the most cost-effective deals and suppliers. The role is to discover the best ways to minimize procurement expenses by finding alternate suppliers, and development of procurement strategies.

Duties and responsibilities

• Providing full assistance to the Purchasing function
• Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders using designated software
• Negotiating prices
• Reacting to changes in orders or delivery schedule
• Responsible for delivery schedules, as well as ensuring accountability in the receiving process
• Provides timely turn-around on all requisitions and purchase orders
• Coordinates returns of goods with sites
• Matching all purchase order with delivery notes.
• Dealing sites and suppliers enquires
• Maintains purchasing documents in a systematic, retrievable manner
• Maintaining relationship with existing suppliers while seeking new ones
• Other duties as assigned


Degree level qualification from a recognized body or a minimum of three to five year experience in a similar role.

Experience & Skills include:
• Significant previous procurement experience with responsibility for delivery of procurement benefits including financial savings
• Advanced Excel skills and Proficiency in Microsoft Word
• Ability to negotiate at the highest levels with suppliers
• Had exposure to a procurement/sales environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated to learn new concepts and participate in new projects

Working conditions
Working directly with procurement team, project/site managers and finance team that compute the financial information necessary for financial reporting.
