About our client

Our client are a highly successful main contractor based in Leeds who have been at the heart of constructing and refurbishing amazing buildings for over fifty years. Operating primarily in West Yorkshire, with additional contract wins across the North and in London, our client specialise in the new build and refurbishment of commercial properties, apartments, student accommodation, care homes, retail/shopping and hotels and due to consistent and ongoing growth, are recruiting additional Foremen to manage their 2017/2018 projects.

Purpose of the Role

To achieve the target contributions in accordance with the contract documents and programme, to the full satisfaction of the Client and his representatives. Supervise works being carried out on sites by directly employed labour, sub contractors, or a combination of both. As required, you will be expected to be in a working capacity directly involved in the repair, refurbishment, maintenance or building of properties in which our projects are involved. To manage and work alongside Trades. To understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy and ensure all people reporting to you do the same.

Key Responsibilities
·Assist with the execution of the Contract works or part thereof
·Read and understand Specification, Drawings, Preliminaries, Preambles and Contract Documentation
·Complete the Contract in accordance with the agreed Plan and Programme
·Ensure implementation of all Company policies and procedures
·Ensure current Safety, Health and Welfare requirements are met and implemented in conjunction with the Site Manager
·Understand and implement the Company Quality Assurance system
·Carry out duties as directed by Senior Site Staff / Contracts Manager
·Monitor orders and deliveries to ensure that all materials are available when required in conjunction with the Site Manager
·Advise suppliers of changes in site requirements, giving sufficient notice to enable changes to be made. Report changes to the Site Manager
·Keep Senior Site staff advised of performance of suppliers
·Ensure that materials are supplied and fixed in accordance with Contract Specification
·Store all materials in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations, so as to minimise loss and wastage
·Advise Buying Department of any materials that are likely to be surplus at least one month before Contract Completion in conjunction with the Site Manager
·Advise Senior Site staff of any material shortfalls in sufficient time to ensure their availability when required
·Ensure sub-contractors are kept advised of Site requirements
·Keep Senior Site staff advised of all problems with sub-contractors
·Discuss with the Senior Site staff the tender assumptions and agree the Working Methods to be used
·Ensure progress is recorded on the standard Company records
·Agree with Senior Site staff the long and short term objectives for site progress
·Co-ordinate all on-site activities and ensure that efficient methods of working are adopted
·Ensure correct quantity and quality of labour available on site
·Provide details of the labour requirements to the Senior Site staff / Contracts Manager at least 4 weeks in advance to enable efficient use to be made of Company labour resources
·Ensure that Plant on site is of good quality and working efficiently
·Ensure all Plant Drivers are approved in accordance with the current regulations
·Ensure all certification is valid and up-to-date
·Remove compound and reinstate areas at completion of contract (including removal of direction signs)
·Ensure all company vehicles are kept in a clean and tidy condition. Vans kept on site including personnel carriers are to be inspected weekly and any damage reported immediately, in accordance with the Company Procedure
·Ensure all drivers of Company vehicles (cars and vans) are approved by the Company Safety Officer
·Co-operate closely with design team, customers, sub-contractors and suppliers and maintain good working relationships
·Work closely with all departments and staff within the business to ensure the efficient running of the business.
·Select economical working methods
·Pass details of all instructions received on site to Senior Site staff
·Ensure that all of the works are handed over to the customer
·Leave all work areas cleared of building rubbish and reinstate gardens and footpaths, etc in accordance with contract requirements
·Carry out duties including administration and dealing with correspondence
·Any other reasonable management request

·CSCS essential
·Previous experience of new build and refurb in a supervisory capacity
·SMSTS - Site Management training (CITB site manager course)
·First Aid at work - preferable
·Ability to fully operate Microsoft Project
·Ability to competently operate MS office (Word & Excel)
·Current and Valid UK driving licence
·Previous Foreman experience
·Previous trades/labour experience
·Up to date relevant knowledge of building legislation
·Up to date relevant knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
·Be prepared to work within various geographical areas
·Good verbal and written communicator
