Sussex Recruitment has been instructed to source a finance assistant for a reputable company based in Eastbourne. Working in a busy team and reporting to the Finance Director this role will give you a great deal of experience within finance.

Duties are shared within a small, universally skilled team, where colleagues can deal with a multitude of tasks

Key responsibilities:

  • To support and ensure that the team complies with all necessary internal standards including BSEN ISO 9001:2008, Quality Management Systems, BS 10500:2011, Anti-Bribery Management, and other relevant accreditations/external standards required for audit.
  • To assist the Finance Director directly with any tasks delegated e.g. VAT returns, reconciliations, Stock Reporting and Pensions administration
  • To work 'hands on’ in the day to day operations of the team including:

o Setting invoice charges for routine work in line with agreed scales.

o Sales Ledger Invoicing - including reconciliation of all sales ledger accounts.

o Credit Control - chasing payments as required and dealing with domestic and overseas customers in resolving issues.

o Payments - management of purchase ledger and regular payment runs.

o Banking and appropriate bank reconciliations.

o Payroll - processing of monthly payroll, Tax & NI and associated year end tax returns.

o Monthly expenses - auditing and processing expenses.

o Month end journals as required.

o Administration and reconciliation of petty cash.

o Customer Reports - purchase/invoice reports as required for key customers.

o Investigate and resolve customer queries promptly.

o Purchase Ledger processing.

o Assist external auditors at year end audit.

o Any other duties that are deemed to be appropriate to this role and the Company.

Essential knowledge and skills required:

Sales Ledger

Purchase Ledger

Banking

Good standard of Excel / Word skills

Desired knowledge and skills required:

AAT qualification

Experience with Payroll processing and salary reconciliations

Experience of developing effective processes with a finance unit

Experience of Sage Payroll and Pegasus Accounts

Understanding of data privacy standards
