£30,368 - £35,727 per annum (dependent on experience)
The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. We are now looking for two PR Officers to join our team, one on a permanent basis and the other for a temporary contract of up to 15 months.
Every year thousands of people are rescued by the RNLI's volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards who brave rough seas, stormy weather and rip currents to save lives. It’s quite a story and yours to tell.
So, if you have PR experience and a strong project background, it’s time to help tell our story and make sure ours is the first name in lifesaving across the UK and Ireland.
As a PR Officer, you will be tasked with communicating our mission, efforts and activities to the general public to ensure awareness of our charity and to enhance goodwill and financial support.
Specifically, you will produce effective, planned media PR communications to support our RNLI business plans, promote our brand and compliment and support fundraising initiatives. You will also work in support of marketing efforts and other RNLI campaigns and programmes to inform and motivate the public to respond in a positive fashion.
You’ll be devising and delivering amazing multi-media plans, pitching unique concepts and feature ideas and providing PR communications support, advice and briefing.
Promoting all aspects of our work, you will work on a national and regional basis, with consumer and specialist media and will forge relationships across the organisation to facilitate your work.
As a charity that is solely funded by donations, we are reliant on an engaged public to ensure we can meet our objectives. You will be vital to these efforts and will be part of the dedicated team of professionals that support our lifesaving work and stand firmly behind our lifeguards and lifeboat crews to make sure that we continue to save thousands of lives every year.
Interested? If so, you will need:
- Public relations experience
- Experience of working in a fast-paced communications environment
- Project management experience and a track record of working in project teams - particularly communications and campaign/PR based
- Experience of working on several projects at one time
- To be degree educated or have equivalent experience
The ideal PR Officer will have social media experience. A CIPR Diploma or equivalent is also desirable, as is marketing experience or a qualification.
Our staff and volunteers have been saving lives at sea without prejudice for nearly 200 years. We respect and value diversity of background, skills and perspectives within our teams, and consider it essential to help us deliver a world-class lifesaving service. We are an inclusive organisation and welcome applications from everyone. In addition to having the skills needed for the role, we also look for applicants who share our commitment to living our RNLI values (trustworthy, courageous, selfless, and dependable), and helping us work towards our goals of halving drowning in the UK and Ireland by 2024. This involves a growing commitment to preventative action, using our expertise to work in partnership with communities locally, nationally and internationally to prevent drowning.
Please note, the closing date for this role is the 31st July 2017. Interviews are scheduled for the week commencing 14th August 2017.
