We know that when volunteering is well managed, it brings huge positive benefits for organisations, communities and individuals. It’s also at the heart of the National Trust: we were founded by volunteers and they have always been part of our organisational DNA.

What it's like to work here

Nestled in a medieval deer-park, Knole is vast, complex and full of hidden treasures. It is the perfect place to visit for textiles and art enthusiasts, showcasing 17th century tapestries and furniture that make the collection internationally significant. Knole is going through a transformation and preservation project with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund. Last year we opened our new visitor centre, and completed the external repairs, and we look forward to opening a nationally significant conservation studio, a new cafe with wonderful views of the park and a lifelong learning centre in the hayloft. It really is an exciting time to join the growing team at Knole.

What you'll be doing

As the Volunteering Coordinator, you'll assist the visitor-facing team within the house’s showrooms at Knole, working alongside other property staff and showroom volunteers to ensure we maintain a perfect balance between access and conservation whilst ensuring our team offers an exceptional service, every time, for everyone. You'll also provide daily organisational support for Knole’s dedicated showroom volunteers and guides. You'll work on a rolling rota basis, which will include regular weekend and Bank Holiday commitments.
