Overall purpose of the job:
As Creative Arts Facilitator you will make a major difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities. You will help them live active lives through a programme of fun and therapeutic music and drama activities. You will lead the production of shows, concerts and other activities to help people with learning disabilities demonstrate their gifts and increase their opportunity to mix and integrate with people from all walks of life. You will help us improve and enhance our current programme and through this reach out to more people. A strong commitment to the values and purpose and the ability to inspire others is essential.
In this new role, the post holder will:
- Lead the development and management of all our music and drama activities
- Help develop an enhanced range of activities athat is responsive to the wishes of those we support and potential new service users or members
- Provide day to day leadership to the group of support assistants working to help deliver productions and other music or drama activities. This will also include providing direct support to individuals and groups of people with disabilities.
- Work in partnership with the new Day Service leadership team - the Day Services Development
Co-ordinator, the Garden Facilitator and the Craft Studio Facilitator. This will sometime mean working alongside them to support individuals working in the garden or studio.
The post-holder will be expected to work about 80% of their time in the day service, directly involved in running activities and supporting people with disabilities to get involved. The remaining time will be free for office, administrative and planning work.
