Pre/Post Award Research Funding Officer
Experienced Research Funding Officer urgently required to support academic staff as they develop and manage externally funded research projects.
There will be particular emphasis on the pre-ward support for successful projects.
Increasing research activity through improved levels of research grant capture is an important strategic priority for the University and this position will play a key role in the support and delivery of this objective.
As Research Funding Officer, you will have excellent knowledge of UK and EU funding programmes, demonstrable experience of supporting successful research bids and research awards.
You will be confident working closely with researchers across a wide range of academic disciplines and have experience of implementing initiatives to stimulate research development activity.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Work with the Research Development Co-ordinator, Research Development Manager and Head of Research team to develop and deliver the research support plan.
o Provide quality management and administrative support on externally funded research awards.
o Monitoring and reporting to PI’s on project expenditure against research budgets and budgets for other externally-funded projects (e.g. professional development courses)
- Liaising with a range of external funders in ascertaining and clarifying their requirements for reporting on budgets and deliverables in collaboration with post-award colleagues in the contracts office
- Advising PI’s on eligible and ineligible expenditure on externally-funded projects and clarifying areas of uncertainty directly with external sponsors
Prior experience of grant post-award financial administration as well as an ability to pro-actively deal with external funders directly to address queries. Additionally we would only want to interview candidates who are confident in working with academic colleagues directly.
Successful candidate will pro-actively develop a knowledge of the range of external funders that supports department
Providing support and guidance to academic colleagues in costing research proposals and other types of externally-funded work
