We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sous Chef at this prestigious city centre restaurant and private dining venue in Cardiff.
Our client is a 2 rosette restaurant listed in the Michelin guide and are famed within their region. After recently completing a 150k refurbishment they are now looking for a strong Sous Chef to join the kitchen team to help cope with the extra demand that this will bring and help them achieve their ambition of obtaining Rosette number 3 and then beyond.
Open 5 days a week, Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner plus Sunday lunch in the autumn/winter period the restaurant is famed not only for its food but also its wine list, which is considered to be one of the finest in the business and recently got listed in the top 120 wine lists in the world by The Fine Wine Magazine (equivalent to 3 Michelin stars) and it has up to 60 covers for fine dining and up to 80 people for corporate events.
To be successful for the role of Sous Chef, previous experience at Sous Chef level within a Michelin and High Rosette background is essential as we are looking for a Sous Chef who is capable of running a team in the Head Chefs absence. A knowledge of Pastry is not essential but would be advantageous and you must have:
* Experience of working closely under a Head Chef in maintaining high standards of food and service.
* Concise communication and interpersonal skills.
* Thorough knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety and licensing legislation.
* Excellent organisation and planning skills.
For the role of Sous Chef our client is offering you an excellent salary of £28,000 per annum plus tronc share of circa £3,000-£5,000 per annum.
