Hays has the pleasure of supporting Doncaster's Private Mental Health Hospital source a Nurse Specialist - ASD

Position: Nurse Specialist/Consultant (Adult Autism)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £40k - £45k - Dependent on relevant experience

Reports to: Clinical Operations Manager

Responsible for: Senior Staff Nurses, Staff Nurses, Support Workers and their on-going clinical leadership.

Hays Healthcare has the opportunity to work with a private gender specific hospital, based in Doncaster.

We have been asked to aide them in sourcing talented healthcare professionals to join their service. They assess and treat men with mental illness, personality disorder and learning disability who require specialist psychiatric care in a low or medium secure environment.

This private hospital is purpose built and established in 2006. It works in partnership with the NHS and is committed to providing an outstanding level of service to patients that is flexible, needs led and based on individual's requirements.

* 109 beds split into 8 dedicated 12 bed wards (either Low or Medium Secure) and 1 Independent Living Flat; each bedroom with an en-suite bathroom

Each ward has a dedicated lounge, individual secure garden, dining room, laundry, kitchen, activity room, interview-room and admin space. Their dedicated Multi-Disciplinary Team of professionals includes Consultant Forensic Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy and a full complement of nursing staff, including Learning Disability Nurses.

As a successful candidate you will be:

* Approved post-graduate qualification, alongside NMC registration:- Adult Autism (ASD)
* A seasoned nurse practitioner with operational managerial experience gained within a specific clinical, educational, technical or professional environment.
* Previous experience managing a significant number of staff undertaking diverse roles at various levels.
* Previous experience managing a significant budget and authority to authorise or write-off significant payments is essential.
* Previous experience managing highly complex, politically sensitive or potentially volatile situations requiring exceptional inter-personal presentation and/or negotiation skills is desirable.
* Comfortable operating in a working environment which places extreme physical and/or emotional demands on the role holder.
* Ability to translate new ideas, best practice and evidence based research into tactical solutions, which support the successful implementation of strategic initiatives within the Function or Unit.

A basic overview of duties and responsibilities:

* Co-ordinate referrals and admissions to the ward and settle patients and ensure that staff are aware of the relevant patient admission requirement
* Assist in the marketing of the Service through networking opportunities and liaison with visiting Case Managers
* Specifying and Monitoring clinical standards for nursing care.
* Incidents are documented and reported on
* Clinical Management of ward staff
* Deliver their specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience to the rest of the clinical team.
* Be able to deal with complex clinical decisions in the absence of the MDT and act accordingly and demonstrate best practice to others.
* Ensure that all patients have outcome measures regularly updated as part of their Care Planning and that these are fed into CQUIN where required.
* Participating in the assessment process of patients, both internally and externally.
* Acting at all times within NMC guidelines, Health and Social Care Act and the Mental Health Act including Code of Practice; ensuring that all nursing staff on your ward also comply.
