THE COMPANY:
Our client is a global leader in metal flow engineering, principally serving the steel and foundry industries. They are based in the City and are recruiting for a Level 1 IT Support Assistant reporting to the IT Manager.

THE ROLE:

- Being the first point of contact
- Provide technical support to all Vesuvius UK and Scandinavian sites
- Ensuring that issues are resolved in a professional and timely manner
- Answering the Help Desk phone line and logging incidents
- Resolving users connection issues including password resetting in a timely and professional manner
- Work with other members of the IT Team in a helpful and considerate manner
- Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues
- Technical Projects are completed to agreed timescales and standards
- Ensuring that all servers at UK/Scandinavian sites are backed up in accordance with backup procedures
- Keep desk and work area clean and tidy
- All resolutions are communicated to users and important issues are escalated to the relevant person
- Processing all orders and goods receipts
- Attend team meetings, briefings and training sessions as required
- Constantly promoting a positive company image

 
THE PERSON:

- IT and/or Customer Services background is preferable
- Flexibility to travel frequently across the UK and occasionally abroad
- Must own a full UK driving license
- Good understanding of PC hardware components required
- Good working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and desktop software, including MS Office
- Lotus Notes and Citrix experience beneficial
- Knowledge of VMware, Active Directory and SQL advantageous (training will be provided as required)
- IT/Computing Degree qualification
- Must be confident and able to work on own initiative
- Self motivated attitude
