Junior PHP Developer (Symfony/Laravel)

Help continue to develop our Knowledge Portal and work on new exciting projects including our gamification framework, engage drivers by developing dynamic training campaigns and support our customers learning by developing our next level online course builder.
It’s a great time to join Microlise due to our continued growth and new opportunities and roles arising. We now have a new opportunity for a Junior PHP Developer. We are looking for people with experience in a similar role and with a good understanding of latest PHP frameworks.
As a Junior PHP Developer, you are responsible for building engaging web applications such as our Knowledge Portal, Rewards and Campaign frameworks engaging our customers in using Microlise technology. You will be using Symfony Framework to help build RESTful API’s to talk to our ReactJS front end. Building new and updated functionality defined by the product team, which includes using manual and automated testing techniques.

Essential Requirements:
− Experience of working in a similar role
− Understanding of a fast moving Agile environment
− Experience of at least one PHP framework, ideally Symfony or Laravel
− Use of testing with Behat, PHPUnit and PHPSpec
− Knowledge of RESTful APIs
− Front end experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
− High demonstrable level of written / verbal communication skills
− Ability to work well under pressure and to strict deadlines
− Ability to prioritise own workload
− Team player
− Highly self-motivated

Desirable Requirements:
− Knowledge of ORM (with MySQL) and ODM (with MongoDB)
− Understanding of BDD and/or TDD
− Awareness of Headless/Detached CMS’s
− Knowledge of Continuous Integration environments such as TFS and Jenkins
− Knowledge of ReactJS and Redux
− Knowledge of Docker
